Getting to Quito from the UK
![]()
There are no direct flights to Ecuador from the UK. This will probably change with the coming of the city's new airport, due to be completed by late 2010. Currently, you can choose from European, US or Latin American hubs where you change planes.
For Europe, you can fly to Madrid and take the daily Iberia-Quito flight, or the daily (minus Sunday) LAN flight to Guayaquil (a short hop from Quito), or you can fly to Amsterdam to connect with the daily KLM flight. For the US, the most straightforward hub is Miami, which is served by American Airlines, or you could also go via Houston with Continental Airlines or via Atlanta with Delta Airlines. Other possibilities include going via another Latin American country, for example with Aviancia via Bogotá, with Taca via San José, Lan via Lima, Copa via Panama City, or Santa Barbara via Caracas. Many of these airlines also depart from Miami and fly through their ‘home-cities’ before reaching Quito.
